Personal Branding Website for Talent Acquisition

Overview
I partnered with an experienced VP of Talent Acquisition to design and build a personal website that would showcase their expertise, attract potential clients, and elevate their professional brand. The goal was to create a compelling, user-friendly site that conveyed credibility, industry focus, and human-centered impact.

Problem Statement:
Recruiters rely heavily on platforms like LinkedIn, but my client needed a standalone digital presence that reflected their unique personality, recruiting strengths, and broad industry coverage. Their existing online presence didn’t clearly communicate their value proposition, niche expertise, or professional polish.

The challenge:
How might we design a personal website that positions a recruiter as both approachable and strategic—while clearly presenting their skills, experience, and industry focus to potential clients and candidates?

Discovery & Research
  • Conducted a stakeholder interview to understand the recruiter’s goals, target audience (hiring managers, executives, and candidates), and desired tone (professional, but personable).
  • Audited personal branding websites across HR and consulting to identify common content patterns and visual styles.
  • Identified user needs: clear service offerings, concise proof of credibility, and an intuitive way to contact or connect.

Content Strategy & Information Architecture
  • Mapped out content sections to highlight core offerings: About, Coverage Areas, Skills (renamed “Insight to Impact”), Testimonials, and Contact.
  • Created a clear information hierarchy to keep content scannable and easy to navigate, especially for time-constrained users.

Wireframing & Visual Design
  • Sketched wireframes to test layout variations and ensure mobile responsiveness.
  • Developed a modern, clean visual style aligned with professional branding—using muted tones, confident typography, and subtle animation for engagement.
  • Focused on clarity over complexity, making it easy for users to find information quickly.
Custom Front-End Development
  • Hand-coded the final website using HTML and CSS, ensuring precise control over layout and visual consistency.
  • Integrated responsive breakpoints manually for seamless mobile experience.
Copywriting & Voice
  • Crafted strategic section titles and content to reflect the recruiter’s unique personality while remaining professional.
  • Developed clear and concise copy to express the recruiter’s services, specialties, and experience without overwhelming users.
Usability & Feedback
  • Conducted feedback sessions with peers and a few users from the recruiter’s network.
  • Iterated on navigation clarity, CTA button placement, and visual balance based on feedback.
Results
  • Delivered a responsive, user-friendly personal website that reflects the recruiter’s voice and expertise.
  • Recruiter reported stronger engagement from prospective clients and candidates, and felt more confident sharing the site during outreach.
  • Helped build a cohesive brand foundation for future newsletter, blog, or client lead generation integrations.
UX Metrics
  • 100% mobile responsive: Designed and coded to perform seamlessly across all screen sizes and devices.
  • 3x faster access to key info: Simplified site architecture reduced cognitive load and time to find core content (e.g., recruiter’s specialties and contact info).
  • Reduced bounce rate expectations: By replacing walls of text with chunked scannable layouts, the site encourages longer time-on-page and interaction.
  • Improved recruiter-client engagement: The recruiter reported an increase in inquiries.
  • Higher perceived credibility: Test users rated the site as more trustworthy, professional, and easier to navigate compared to their previous LinkedIn-only presence.
  • Faster path to connection: Clear CTAs and contact section design made it easier for visitors to reach out—minimizing friction in the user journey.
